On Sunday, 20th August 2023, Association of Surgeons, Nagpur conducted 26th ‘Dr Indrajeet Mitra Memorial State level Surgical Quiz’ for Final MBBS students and interns at the Auditorium, AIIMS , Nagpur.
The quiz got a huge response. 21 teams from different medical colleges from all over Maharashtra participated in this prestigious quiz.
The quiz was inaugurated at the hands of the Chief Guest Dr Bharat Deshraj, Retd Prof and Head, Dept of Surgery, IGGMC, Nagpur. Dr Prachi Mahajan, President ASN, welcomed all the contestants, students and members of the association. Dr Deshraj, Dr Shubhrajit Dasgupta, Senior surgeon and Patron for the quiz,. Dr Siddharth Dubhashi and Dr Divish Saxena expressed their feelings. Dr Mrinalini Borkar, secretary ASN, proposed vote of thanks. Dr.Abhiram Mundle was the MOC.
Quiz was conducted efficiently by a team of Quiz masters including Dr Divish Saxena, Dr Prashant Bhowate, Dr Gayatri Deshpande, Dr Yogesh Bang, Dr Prasad Bansod, Dr Rahul Saxena, Dr Rajvilas Narkhede, Dr Soumya Ghoshal, and Dr Chaitanya Deshmukh. There were interesting rounds namely Surgical Snippets, Under the knife, Trauma and Emergency, Kaun banega Surgeon, Stories from the past, Let’s play with rhymes, Waah kya scene hain, Khatron ke khiladi, Wrong se right, Buy one get one and Rapid Fire. All the rounds were very well appreciated by one and all.
Dr B S Gedam, Dr B B Gupta and Dr Y S Deshpande were the judges. Dr Rajeev Sonarkar, Dr Atish Bansod, Dr Bhupesh Tirpude and Dr Dheeraj Sagrule took special efforts in time keeping and score keeping. Advisory committee members Dr Prabhat Nichkaode, Dr Rajesh Singhavi, Dr AM Quraishi, Dr Siddharth Dubhashi and Dr Butani helped the organising team for proper planning.
3 Qualifier Rounds with 7 teams each were conducted. Out of 21 teams, top scoring 8 teams qualified for the final round. A tiebreaker was conducted for 7th and 8th position.
AIIMS, Nagpur team emerged as winner whereas TNMC, Mumbai was 1st Runner-Up and GMC, Nagpur was 2nd Runner Up.
Many members of ASN including Dr Dilip Gode, Hon Dean GMC Nagpur, Dr Raj Gajbhiye and Students from AIIMS, GMC, IGMC and LMH Nagpur attended the quiz in large numbers.
For those who were unable to attend the quiz it was also streamed live on YouTube, about 300 people joined.
